handyfloss

Because FLOSS is handy, isn’t it?

My computers

This is an incomplete list of the computers I have owned, or used, or have major contact with. Why do I do this list? Because I feel like it, so shut it up, man!

Maggie

My laptop.

Description: fast but short battery life Core 2 Duo T7200 Merom, 2GB RAM
Started using it: Sep 2007
Uname -a:
OS: Debian Lenny, Ubuntu (dunno which), Fedora 8 (just a test), Windows XP (preinstalled)

Homer

My PC at work right now.

Description: noisy and hot Pentium 4 at 3.00 GHz Prescott, 1024 kB cache, 1GB RAM (the 1024 kB cache seem to make it a Prescott, but /proc/cpuinfo seems to say it doesn’t have ss3, which would make it a Northwood)
Processor released: Feb 2004 (if Prescott)
Started using it: Jun 2007
Uname -a: Linux Homer 2.6.22-3-686 #1 SMP Mon Nov 12 08:32:57 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux
OS: Debian Lenny

Heracles

My home desktop PC.

Description: reliable, albeit noisy, AMD Athlon 2800+, 1GB RAM
Processor released: Feb 2003
Started using it: Mar 2004
Uname -a: Linux Heracles 2.6.22-3-k7 #1 SMP Mon Nov 12 09:12:50 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux
OS: Debian Lenny

Bart

Former PC at the UPV/EHU.

Description: quite silent Pentium 4 at 3.20 GHZ, 1MB cache, 1GB RAM.
Started using it: don’t remember
OS: Debian Lenny. Now Windows, because it’s been recycled for someone else.
