I am quite experienced in Windows OS (95,98,98SE,ME(sucks, I know:p) XP and Vista. Ever since I had my laptop last year (I was using a desktop before that) I began to notice that my laptop (XP), esp the processor's corner is always quite warm, and the results (temperature) I got with HWiNFO32 is around 75*C for both of my processor, and 70-80*C for my GeForce 7150 Go GPU. Yes, my processor is AMD, which is infamous for its high temperature. The readings are taken when my laptop is running Avira,Comodo,AIMP2,Mozilla,and BitComet. Commit charge for RAM is always quite high (600-800MB), but my laptop has 2GB, so, that is not really a prob, until I started using Ubuntu.

Surprisingly, my processor is no longer that warm, nor it takes only around 200-300MB idling, 400MB with Mozilla and another music player running. I tried Kubuntu, DSL, gOS, Xubuntu, Mint,and am now trying Mandriva. I am using XP too, just to play some games not playable by Wine. Other than that, I seldom touch XP. Popular distros can even use a hardware without going through the hassle of installing drivers, blah blah blah. If not, try Googling it for solutions. I haven't encountered any incompatible drivers till now.

Since most Linux distros are free, there is no need to complain (well, no one should) about them. So, I guess, being free is great, eh? -I mean OS, not others :p
So is XP = XD ??
I am an accountancy student btw, not some IT students, and if there are spelling or grammatical mistakes in my post, please do bear with me as I am feeling sleepy now...........ZZZzzz

And for Isilanes ,what a great post you wrote up there~ ^^

I had a similar problem with \caption and \gls

This gives an error:

\begin{figure}[htb]
...
\caption{Some text \gls{SEM}. Some text}
\end{figure}

This does not

\begin{figure}[htb]
...
\caption[Some text SEM.]{Some text \gls{SEM}. Some text}
\end{figure}

Yes,

\begin{block} ... \end{block}
causes the error by beamer, but

\begin{block}{} ... \end{block}
does not.

Oscar was right! i tried the empty parentheses after block and it worked! fortunately i hadn't to try other strange stuff (that makes sense because my presentation didn't have strange stuff neither) by the way, it's the strangest error in LaTeX i have seen.
